One of the company's earliest facilities, reflecting the roots of Schock Transfer and the foundation of today's NTS Trucking.
What began as a small Kansas City transportation operation grew through generations of hard work, adaptability, and a commitment to dependable service.
NTS Trucking’s roots trace back to 1948, when founder William J. Willhite began working in transportation as a driver salesman before moving into trucking operations and fleet management. After gaining experience with OK Transfer throughout the 1950s, Willhite purchased interest in E.C. Schock Transfer in 1962 and continued expanding the company’s operations across the Midwest.
In 1963, the business was incorporated as Schock Transfer Co., Inc., marking the beginning of decades of growth in regional hauling, warehousing, leasing, and specialized transportation services. Throughout the 1960s, the company expanded its hauling authority across multiple states, developed operations along the Missouri River, and built long-term customer relationships rooted in reliability and service.
As the transportation industry evolved, Schock Transfer continued to grow and eventually became what is now known as NTS Trucking — carrying forward the same commitment to responsive communication, dependable delivery, and long-term partnerships.
Today, NTS Trucking serves customers throughout the Greater Kansas City area and surrounding states with experienced drivers, dependable equipment, and an operations team focused on efficiency, safety, and service.
